Yes, in order to facilitate the installation of the terrace, it is imperative to put all your structure at the same level or at least to follow the slope of the concrete slab in a regular way if it is not too important.

What is the minimum height between the ground and the wood deck?

You will need at least 75mm of space to install a Softline or Technideck deck. In order to prolong the life of your deck, it is however advised to have a minimum of 100mm under the deck (blade), the ideal being located around 150mm under the blades.

The Softline system requires a 400mm clearance. The Technideck system requires, depending on the type of wood, a center distance of 400, 462.5 or 500mm. The ideal is to lay the terrace on a concrete slab with a sufficient slope for the drainage of the water and then on blocks. Unfortunately it is not always possible to have a concrete slab due to budget, available space or location of the floor. It is recommended to leave a gap between the boards and the walls. The distance usually left is 10mm.

Do I have to pre-drill to screw in the clips?

No, it is not necessary to pre-drill the clips into the joists, unless you are working with joists with a density of 1000kg/m3. If you use the Technideck system on aluminum joists or if you use the Softline clips on generic aluminum joists, you only need to use self-drilling screws for aluminum.

Do I need to fix my studs to the ground?
